Yael Naim - Pachad

This is one of my favorite songs. I don't know what she's saying, but here are the hebrew lyrics:

omer ahshav tesshi levad

ten li yad... ten li yad...

rotze shetenasi levad
hegia zman shetifrehi la-ad

It's lovely. Sometimes the songs I enjoy the most are the ones I don't understand. There's something mysterious and almost therapeutical in saying things you don't know the meaning of. :)

:) Yes. you get to project whatever you will onto it...

I had never had this happen before though.

Only once with a song from Sarah Brightman, she's singing in spanish Naturaleza Muerta.... her accent is terrible, and the melody is out of this world, so I projected that beauty onto the parts of the lyrics I didn't understand, and I listened to it 200 times and cried my eyes out with how beautiful it was... and then I found the real lyric and it wasn't as beautiful as I had imagined. =) that's why I'm not too too curious about these lyrics. I like what I imagine about them. but, yeah, I am curious. there's no freakin hebrew dictionary online. who would have thought.

heheh I understand. Don't search for the meaning then, it's much better this way :)

I just want to make sure I'm not too pathetic thinking it's something totally opposite to what I imagine. I have no clue though.
I think Pashad might mean something related to Justice, Law, rules...

lol I've searched and Pashad can be a personal name and it's also a city in Afeganistan. But it could be something else...

:D
thanks for searching.. i've found that too.
Then I found this :
"TITLES GIVEN TO GEBURAH: Din, Justice; Pashad, Fear"

I'll ask a friend that studied theology. they're supposed to learn some hebrew.

I've been searching for paShad instead of paChad.....duh.

Here's what I found now: In many cases the more ancient, concrete meaning of a word is found in the book of Job. As an example the Hebrew word "pachad" is used to mean fear or awe an abstract concept but is used in its concrete form only in Job 4:14 - "dread came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones shake".

So I guess it means fear, awe. I like the way it's going.

Me too!
It's like being startled by something :)

I'm beting on it being about war, or hunger, some type of mass sufering.
I've found a website where a guy translates hebrew I'm hoping he'll help...

This is what I found when I went looking for a translation. It's not a perfect translation but it'll give you an idea. What do you think about it?

Ok, the name of the song is fear

a dim fear cover the eyes
i want you to wait for him alone
connecting my hands, and tell me to ask
give me a hand
want you to folding to him
want you to wait for him forever

white courage pushing me into the water
want you to get wet
come to me
shining the skies for me

give me a hand, want you to try by yourself
this is the time that you will bloom forever
swim alone now, he says
want you to bloom forever
its time that you figure out who you are

give me a hand
give me a hand

give me a hand, want you to try by yourself
this is the time that you will bloom forever
swim alone now, he says
want you to bloom forever
its time that you figure out who you are

who are you?
who are you?
who are you?

Lackluster fear
Envelopes the eyes
Wants you to wait
For him alone
Ties my hands
Says beg me
Give me a hand
Wants you to curl up to him
Wants you to wait for him
Forever

White courage
Pushes me to the water
Wants you to become wet
Come to me
Lights up the sky
He now says swim
Give me a hand
I want you to try alone
It's time for you to flourish
Forever

He now says swim alone
I want you to flourish forever
It's time to discover who you are
